Sullivan’s Island

2015

Yes, my first post back after the New Year is totally a cheesy beach shoot accompanied by my equally cheesy {and extremely late} list of resolutions. But, don’t stop following just yet! There are some really exciting things coming to Southern Meets Chic in the next few weeks and I would love for you to stick around to see them! I could bore you with excuses of why I haven’t been blogging, like the crazy holidays, a week of houseguests, working on future projects, but instead I would rather tell you about what I’m planning for the coming year. (see what I did there)

But, before I share my goals for 2015, let me tell you about this super cozy outfit I’m wearing. I’ve been on a major Old Navy kick lately and it probably has something to do with their classic styles and ridiculously good clearance sales! This sweater was yet again another Old Navy steal and is perfect for winter days spent on the beach reminiscing on the past and looking forward to the future. (JOKING, sort of) Not only is it great to wear on a casual day out, but also it pairs perfectly with leggings and fuzzy socks for a cold night in watching Netflix. Y’all saw these jeans in my last post, but they have definitely been on repeat ever since I got them. I always love when local stores, like Styledwell, start carrying my favorite name brand denim designers! These new booties, which I wear like every day, were a product of my January 2015 winter sale-shopping spree. I mean, y’all, EVERYTHING is on sale right now!! I’ve been in heaven (although my bank account might be in hell). Luckily, these babies did not even come close to killing my budget and I will definitely be getting my money’s worth out of them. They came from one of my absolutely favorite stores in Charleston, II Brunettes. It’s one of those places that you walk in and literally want everythinggg. AKA: danger zone, but their winter sale has been killer, so i’ve loved taking full advantage of that.

Okay, so onto my goals for 2015! I’ll spare y’all from having to hear about my cliché plans to eat healthier, workout more and shop less. Although, I would love to work on all of the above (except maybe the shopping, let’s get real).

  1. Blog more consistently- I know we already chatted about this a little bit at the beginning, but it’s definitely my biggest struggle with blogging. I go through these phases of blog hiatus’ because I don’t plan my posts out enough and all of my other life obligations wind up taking precedence. For 2015 my plan is to be ahead of the time and know exactly what I’m going to post and when at least two weeks ahead of time. Additionally, I’m starting a new weekly blog series tomorrow!! It’s called The Friday Five and will keep y’all up to date with what I’m loving and interested in on a weekly basis. I’m super excited to share with y’all!
  2. Create a more inspirational work space- I’m totally guilty of being that girl who sits on her couch with her laptop all the time. While I’ve actually got a great area for my office, the decor needs some major work. For example, my desk is currently a folding table. This.has.got.to.change! I’ve got some pretty great ideas and will {of course} share the before and after with y’all! Which brings me to my next goal…
  3. Add more lifestyle posts to SMC- While I LOVE fashion and that’s definitely what I want my blog’s focus to remain, I am also really into cooking, local restaurants, art and SO much more! I want to share ALL of these wonderful things with y’all!
  4. Hone my photography skills- Like most of the above goals, I’ve already started working on this one as well. This past weekend, the hubby and I went to a full day photography class! It was a ton of information and I’m certainly not going to be a professional photographer anytime soon, (or ever) but along with more lifestyle posts comes more photography. Plus, I’ve always really enjoyed taking pictures, so I’m excited to finally be learning how to take that to the next level.
  5. Actually make time to read all of the books & magazines I buy- Pretty self explanatory. But seriously, I LOVE to read!! I just never make the time to do it. So, this year is the year of carrying a book with me everywhere I go. You never know when you’ll get a few minutes to read a few pages! (hint: instead of aimlessly scrolling Twitter or Insta)

I just want to thank everyone who follows SMC and I cannot wait to continue sharing my journey with y’all in the year 2015!! I see how far I have come since I started this venture and cannot wait to see where another year will take me! xo

Oh and big thanks to one of my high school besties for taking these pics while she was visiting me!! She’s kind of the bomb.com!!
