6. Moon & Lola Coffee Mug– Ahhh the gift that keeps on giving! Your Valentine will be reminded of how much you love them every time they pick up their mug and are told they’re gorgeous! This makes a great gift for someone that you don’t want to spend a ton, but want to make a big impact. – $28

7. Marysia Antibes Scalloped Bandeau Bikini– It’s never too early to start preparing for the warm weather!! This makes a great gift alone, or even better alongside plane tickets for 2 to Tulum! My Favorite Basics + LaaLee Giveaway

DSC_0550Today I wanted to share with y’all some of my favorite basic pieces that are essentials in my winter wardrobe. I’ve also got a super exciting giveaway with a fabulous jewelry designer that will be starting today, with the winner being announced next Friday! But, more on that a little later. This outfit is basically (hehe couldn’t resist) made up of black and white pieces that are easy to mix and match with almost anything. The coat is a Calvin Klein piece that I’ve had for years and found at, get this, Costless Outlet for under $50. Despite it’s age, it’s very on trend this year with the oversized coat phenomenon. It’s the perfect simple wool coat that can be worn over practically any winter getup. Of course, I’ve got a similar option down in the links for y’all!DSC_0546DSC_0577DSC_0555The top may not be super wintery to those of you in places that actually get cold, but here in fickle weathered Charleston, tops like this are a must have. It’s a great choice to layer under a sweater or like I did here, throw a coat over. I love that it’s so simple and comfortable with the solid white tee-shirt style back, but looks put together with the silky fabric front. Also, something about those black and white stripes just exude elegance! A pair of black pants and a pair of leather leggings are both a wardrobe essentials these days, but why not combine them and have a simple leather stripe down the side of your black pants? It avoids the whole sweating in your leather leggings situation (you know you’ve been there) but still jazzes up the basic black pant. These are SO comfortable and very flattering, so they get my vote! DSC_0607DSC_0560DSC_0589Then there’s my newest spoil myself purchase, my YSL mini bag. I’m telling you, if you want to splurge and buy yourself a nice but practical bag, this is the way to go! I’m absolutely obsessed with this minimalist chic look. Of course, I couldn’t do an all black and white outfit without a little pop of color, so I threw on these fab red suede pumps. While they definitely stand out a bit more than the other pieces, I still consider these a winter basic because they go with so much! They’re great to throw on with anything black, white, leopard and I’m especially loving mixing red and pink or purple for the holidays. DSC_0624DSC_0628Y’all know I like to keep my jewelry simple, so a few dainty layered necklaces are always my go-to look. I love this “Mrs.” necklace that just screams “I’m so married” – if you don’t get that reference and haven’t watched the video you must! Then, there’s the bar necklace that really never leaves my neck. It can be layered with just about any other necklace whether it’s another simple gold piece, a long tassel style necklace or even a statement piece. It’s so simple, but so chic! DSC_0631Now, for what y’all have either a. have been waiting for or b. just scrolled down to the bottom to see (i’m totally onto you) – the giveaway info!! So, laalee is a beautiful jewelry line designed by the super sweet southern belle, Christy Mims, out of Lafayette, Louisiana. I originally came across her designs when I was searching for jewelry for my bridesmaids to wear in our May wedding. I was instantly drawn to her fashion forward, but antique inspired pieces, styled on beautiful vintage china. Her blush champagne teardrop earrings were exactly what I had been looking for to compliment my bridesmaid’s rosewater colored dresses. Christy was SO sweet and so easy to work with which was a huge bonus for me being a busy bride. I wound up getting my entire bridal party and family’s jewelry from laalee. There are so many colors and styles to choose from, she has something for every bride and wedding party. But, Christy couldn’t get rid of me after the wedding was over! Not only does she have the best selection of bridal party jewelry, but she also makes jewelry fit for everyday purposes. In comes that FAB bar necklace!! There’s a little bit of everything on her site from dainty necklaces and bangles to trendy druzy style jewelry, and YOU have the chance to win a $50 to her shop!! All you have to do is follow me (@southernmeetschic) and laalee (@laaleedesigns) on Instagram and comment “followed and entered” on any of the pictures posted in reference to the giveaway. This will run today through next Friday the 19th at noon and I will announce a winner at 5:00 on Friday afternoon. It doesn’t stop there though!! All of my SMC readers will shop for 15% off their entire purchase with the code 15OFF in the laalee shop!! Brides, this is the perfect time for you to check jewelry off your list!!

Holiday Affair

Okay, I feel better now, but seriously I’m obsessed!! Want to know what else I’m obsessed with? The holidays, of course! Now, I’m not one of those that rushes through Thanksgiving just to get to Christmas. I like to savor each holiday as they come. But, while it may be too early for me to start decorating, it’s never too soon to start planning my holiday party attire! Those invitations will start coming sooner rather than later and you don’t want to be rushing around the day of (in Christmas shopping craziness) looking for something to wear. If they were to have “holiday cocktail dress” in the dictionary, this emerald beauty would be the definition. It’s classy, sassy and sexy all in one dress! Oh, and it’s so much fun to wear (if you can’t tell). This black fur jacket goes beautifully over it for the chilly weather and you could even add black tights if it’s really cold (aka not in Charleston). Anything embellished just screams festive, so these jeweled kitten heels were the perfect choice. I accessorized with these beautiful black and gold statement earrings that really keep the look classy. Then, to pull out the gold and jazz things up I carried this amazing clutch! It’s flashy, without being tacky. Head to toe this is a flawless look for any holiday party you have to attend. Whether it’s work, friends or family you’ll stand out but still stay appropriate! LOVE LOVE LOVE- okay, seriously i’m finished gloating over this look now!

Don’t forget I’ve got exciting news for y’all coming tomorrow evening!! Stay tuned to SMC tomorrow at 6:00 for the big reveal!!

Yesterday it was plaid and leopard, today it’s stripes and spots? Not totally clear on the exact label of the print on this top, but I’m really into it! What the pictures don’t show is that it also has a hint of gold glitter! Gold, glitter, pattern mixing- I’m sold!! I love this look because it’s so fashion forward, but also so comfortable. These literally feel like pajamas!! This is the perfect “run errands while looking chic attire” AKA every Tuesday. It could easily be dressed up with a pair of strappy heels, but I like to keep it casual with classic quilted flats. To pull out the gold in the top and embellishment on the shoes, I wore it with a strand of my favorite Charleston Rice Beads. These can instantly jazz up any outfit and give your look that perfect finish. To contrast the red, black and white I added this bright blue bag. A little pop of color can really add some fun to your look and give you a put together look that you wouldn’t even expect!

Last night I spent a fun night with fellow bloggers and Charleston fashionistas at an amazing event/fashion show at Republic Garden & Lounge. It was put on by Rolling Rack Boutique, a mobile shopping truck, named Rita to be specific.  Now, while this concept has been in California for years, it had yet to hit the coast of Charleston until now! The truck is taken to local events, concerts and even popular brunch spots {Shelter, every Sunday, ladies}. You can also privately rent Rita to come to your party or event. What a fun girl’s night, right?! Perfect for birthday parties, bachelorettes, or even just a ladies night in! Not only does Rolling Rack stock the hottest styles at fabulous prices with everything from jewelry to sweet little dresses and tops to OMG so sexy jumpsuits, but on the inside Rita is absolutely the cutest thing you’ve ever seen! They have done a fabulous job getting this truck to look just like a cute boutique, except this one can come to YOU! Unfortunately, this was my first encounter with Rolling Rack Boutique so I wasn’t able to wear one of their pieces to the event. However, I did do some shopping and cannot wait to share my new threads with y’all! Since this was a fun, Summer event I wanted to keep my attire fairly casual but with some great summery colors! This floral top is so girly and the colors just pop! It’s also super light and airy- perfect for this hot, humid Charleston weather. I wore it with the classic Summer staple, white skinny jeans, which I of course did a little roll at the bottom. My Rockstuds were a perfect shoe pairing to add a little sass to this sweet outfit. Just the right amount of rock-n-roll to add to the pretty florals. I couldn’t go without throwing on a few baubles that complimented the colors in my top just right! For a bag, I carried my go-to classy white quilted cross body that goes fabulous with any outfit! This is an easy outfit to recreate with a floral top in bright colors, white skinnies and a pair of pumps {studs optional, but amazing}.

Midweek Shoe Sale Fix

So, I’ve been wanting to break Southern Meets Chic into more than outfit posts for a while now, but I just never knew exactly where to start. That is, until I got word that Saks Fifth Avenue was having a HUGE designer shoe sale! Once I got on their site and saw all of the amazing deals and variety of styles, I knew I had to share this with the world!! If you’re like me, you love big name brands, but can hardly ever afford to fork out the dough for them. Now is your chance to get designers like Prada, Miu Miu, Jimmy Choo- the list goes on, at up to 60% OFF!! Now, a lot of these can still be a little pricey so I also threw in some, still designer, but less expensive options as well. I’ve organized them into 4 different categories- flats, sandals, dressy heels and casual heels with info below. If you are seriously interested in a pair, I’ve got a great contact over at Saks in Atlanta I can hook you up with. Happy Shopping & Happy Hump Day!!

6b9b0564e7127b298bc8b603984999961. Jimmy Choo Alina Perforated Leather Ballet Flats in Lemon <original price: $675.00 SALE: 315.16>

Consider these neon babes the new neutral for summer! You can wear these with virtually any color to add some fun to your everyday look. The laser cut leather was huge for Spring/Summer ’14 and is a great way to spice up a basic flat.

2. Miu Miu Patent Leather Mary Jane Flats in White <original price: $550.00 SALE: $256.79 >

These Blair Waldorf-esque Mary Jane flats will put just the right amount of “prep” in your step this summer. This style is perfectly classic, but with a modern and trendy twist. These can be worn easily with most shorts, skinny jeans and dresses. Now all you’ll need is a fun headband to complete the look!

3. Chloé Suede Mary Jane Double-Strap Ballet Flats in Red <original price: $630.00 SALE: $294.15>

I absolutely love these precious flats! The ballet flat keeps them simple, but the double strap adds a bit of funk. They are a great transitional shoe between seasons. I can picture them worn with fun, floral tops and black/white striped shorts, but also with black tights and a skater skirt and fuzzy sweater in the winter. Simply perfect!

620297d7e4228334b407ec491c6cf1371. Rachel Roy Camden Studded Ankle Strap Sandal in nude <original price: $295.00 SALE: $137.74>

These are a basic must-have sandal to keep in your closet! They are easy to throw on and put with everything. But, with the gold studs they are anything but boring! Great chance to add a staple shoe to your Summer wardrobe, and if you’re like me, throw out your 3 year old Target go-to’s!

2. Nicholas Kirkwood Bicolor Leather Zigzag Sandals in black/red <original price: $495.00 SALE: $231.12>

Now, I will be the first one to say that I am OVER chevron- if you’re considering it as a part of your outfit, don’t do it!! However, on the inside of your shoe it actually has a bit of a draw (besides the fact that it can’t be seen). These are a sandal that you can easily match with outfits, but still add a pop of color! You’ve also got to love that gold toe!

3. Prada Saffiano Patent Leather Gladiator Sandal in white <original price: $575.00 SALE: $268.47>

These white beauties are a different take on gladiator sandals. The gleaming white is perfect for summertime and will go great with all of those fun neon colors you’ve got in your closet! They can also take a classic jean shorts & white tank from boring to chic!

2e0b368260d80c4b45d45312e3dbbfd21. Tibi Anouk Leather High-Heel Sandals in Mandarin <original price: $395.00 SALE: $184.43>

The color of this shoe is everrrryyything!! The options of how to wear the style are endless- perfect for shorts, skirts, jeans, dresses..I mean the list goes on! I love the idea of wearing it with black/white, neon yellow or even a really pale sky blue.

2. Reed Krakoff Leather Cutout Pumps in Sky Blue <original price: $695.00 SALE: $324.50>

The laser cut leather does it again!! This time in an absolutely beautiful pump. Remember above with the Tibi heel in that great mandarin color? Now picture these shoes with a dress that color. Gorgeous, right?! Also, the perfect splash of color and sass to an all white outfit.

3. Jimmy Choo Thistle Patent Leather and Metallic Leather Sandals in White/Gold <original price: $795.00 SALE: $371.19>

Can you say Grecian Goddess sandal?! These babies are a great summer shoe for a night out on the town! Or, how about all of you future brides out there? These are perfect for bachelorette, showers, rehearsal dinner or even the big day!! A designer wedding day shoe for almost half off?! Oh yes, that just happened!

b34e2c8b887aee7ba6035e8fade7d4b21. Kate Spade Aisha Leather T-Strap Sandals in Luggage <original price: $328.00 SALE: $153.14>

If you know me, then you know I love a block heel! If you have yet to get into the trend, these are the perfect starters. The classic colors make this super versatile. This sandal will take you from day to night and looking super classy all the while!

2. Valentino Patent Chevron-Espadrille Slingback Wedge in Pink <original price: $575.00 SALE: $301.50>

Okay, so ignore the word chevron being in the title because that super cute stitching on the heel is nowhere near that stuff that makes me want to gauge my eyes out! These are the most fun wedges! I know they’re a little Elle Woods, but it’s summer, you’re supposed to add a little fun to your life and wardrobe! These would also make perfect pool party shoes- think Vegas & Miami BABY!

3. Diane von Furstenberg Remy Leopard-Print Calf Hair Cork Sandals in Camel <original price: $350.00 SALE: $163.41>

These 1970’s style leopard sandals are TO DIE!! It’s no wonder DVF is Rachel Zoe’s mentor/role model, these totally encompass everything that is RZ. Just add some bell bottoms, loose black tank and huge sunnies and you are ready to go!

If you follow me on Instagram, then you know what I’ve been up to for the past month- having a beautiful wedding with my best friend {now husband} and then embarking on a three week long honeymoon of our dreams to Europe! We have had an exciting and amazing past few weeks. Now, I’m thrilled to be able to share all of it with y’all! The first part of our trip, we spent traveling through northern Italy, which is where all of my outfit posts were shot. We went to Venice, Milan and Florence and loved each and every city for different reasons. Collectively though, our favorite was Milan, which is where my first post will take you. The people were wonderful, food DELICIOUS, fashion breathtaking and the big city feel incomparable. I could seriously see myself living there. To walk around town and do the tourist thing, I wanted my outfit to be a combination of comfortable, yet cool. I wanted to blend in with the locals (which, with my Italian roots isn’t too hard). Europeans have this amazing effortlessly chic look to their style. I made it my mission to embody that and soak in every bit of it while I was there. Neutrals are an easy way to do effortless. This sheer taupe blouse is a great staple to have in your closet. It can go with practically anything, in practically any weather. It is comfortable, yet classy. These cropped skinny jeans are officially my new favorites! Not only are they stretchy material, but they look great with heels, wedges, flats and flip flops. The color is a lighter wash, so I like to pair them with softer colors like ivory, nudes, and pastels. My favorite color of the year, blush pink, goes perfectly with them. Everyone remember how I say to always roll your skinny jeans when you’re wearing flats? Well, with how perfectly the hem of these fall on the leg that is not necessary. These blocked heel sandals I wore are a MUST HAVE- seriously, do yourself a favor and go out and get them NOW!!! I am obsessed with these! They are comfortable and casual enough to wear walking around a big city all day and easy enough to dress up to wear them out at night. They are the perfect shoe to take on a trip to Europe because they are so multi-functional. I love them so much, that I want to order two more pair to have on backup for when these get worn out (which the way i’ve been wearing them, they will). This bag is my go-to neutral purse. A gold chain strap takes any outfit to the next level of chic! No, it’s not Chanel {I wish} but it is still a beautiful quilted white leather purse by Kate Spade that will perfectly complete almost any outfit. Now, I must tell you the one accessory that I was missing was my hair being styled! The European outlets zapped my curling wand on the first day! So, until I could get a replacement it was au-natural for me. This actually works in Europe though, the more natural the better! Do you have any tips on what to wear when in Europe? I would love to get your input! {we are already planning our next trip}

Today begins the first day of a week full of Valentine’s attire posts! Why celebrate just one day when you can play dress up all week? This get up is something you can take from the office to date night. This is why I LOVE a good shift dress! They are so wearable and can be dressed up with heels or dressed down with flats. You could even wear this with tights and boots on a chilly day. Not to mention it is super comfortable! The animal print is another great, versatile aspect of this dress. Animal print=neutral and can be worn with basically any color! Given the festivities this week, I decided to add a fun pop of red this time with a pair of suede pointy toe heels. They really take what could of been a neutral, safe outfit with a pair of black heels to the next level. And this is not something you have to wait for Valentine’s Day to wear! This style can be worn anywhere from late Fall to early Spring. Now, I am somewhat addicted to lipstick, so I jump at any chance to wear a bright shade! Naturally, I took advantage of the red theme and added it on my lips too. To complete the look I added a medium sized pearl and gold bead necklace. I strongly feel that any shift style dress should ALWAYS be worn with a necklace! Otherwise, you just don’t look finished. The shift also provides a neckline that makes necklaces easy to wear, whether it be a chunky statement or a long pendant. This slightly chunky pearl necklace really polishes the look off nicely. This is a very simple outfit to put together, but gives you a classically chic look that will stand out from the rest.
