Fine and Dandy Boutique that is!! I was so happy to collaborate with Dandy Boutique and the adorable Taylor from Holy City in Heels on this fun, playful shoot for Rutledge Social shot by Terrence from Charleston Street Style. Dandy has quickly become one of my favorite stops when shopping in downtown Charleston and has even given me a new little twist in my style. I like to tell owner, Holly McGetrick, that shopping in her store is like shopping in Taylor Swift’s closet. The new bob and bangs T-Swift, not old school, country spiral curls T-Swift. The charming store is full of vintage inspired duds that perfectly combine classic styles with modern influences, think Allie Hamilton from the Notebook meets Audrey Hepburn. I just love how feminine and put together all of her pieces make me feel! Holly and the overall style of Dandy Boutique has definitely inspired me to add a little more of a vintage 1950’s feel to my wardrobe lately.
Not only is Holly super stylish, but she’s also pretty darn crafty! She hand makes STUNNING floral crowns like these and does beautiful custom bridal hair pieces. Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE any sort of hat or head piece and ESPECIALLY floral crowns! I think they are the perfect addition to any outfit for a special event, professional photos or even just because. This dress just complimented the floral crown so beautifully. The combination of the feminine lace and the fall cranberry color make this look flawless. To keep the outfit autumnal and somewhat casual, I wore a suede bootie. This dress could also easily transition to winter by instead wearing black tights and black booties, a big flashy statement necklace and a black fur shrug with a huge fancy topknot for a glamorous holiday party look!
I have a serious obsession with embellishments this year, so be prepared to see a lot of them especially during the holiday season! A little beading or bling is just so perfect to jazz up an otherwise basic piece of clothing. But, it also still keeps things simple and understated which I love! I’m definitely a “less is more” kinda gal! This icy gray/blue sweater is ideal for the coming winter months. You can dress it up with a skirt, like I did with this navy blue quilted skirt. Or, throw it on with a pair of jeans and boots for a chic comfy look! This is that sweater you’ll wear over and over again and is just a no brainer to throw on when you feel like you’ve got nothing to wear! (Read: all the time)
I was so thrilled when Alden Haviland of Rutledge Social invited me to collaborate with Charleston Street Style photographer, Terrence Edwards, on a shoot for Seeking Indigo. Shooting with Terrence and Alden is a fun treat in itself, but I was also excited to learn more about Seeking Indigo. I’ve always known they were on King St. but I never stopped in because I thought it was just a spa. I was SO wrong!! Seeking Indigo is a full service spa, wellness center and perfectly self described “urban oasis,” but before you get to the 4,000 square feet of full on relaxation, there is also a huge retail space! A boutique and a spa, what more could you want? The boutique carries everything from comfy yoga and loungewear to sexy maxi dresses and perfectly fitting skinny jeans. I have to say my favorite goodies they have are their jewelry! Lots of beaded long necklaces in beautiful colors and many with healing properties, I’ll take that! They also carry home decor, most of which is inspired by owner, Kathryn Peter’s, travels to Bali and the likes. Just walking through the front doors of Seeking Indigo automatically gives you a feeling of relaxation, but it’s walking through the doors to the spa that truly starts a beautiful, healing experience. Read more about my spa day with Seeking Indigo tomorrow on SMC (and you’ll of course see a few more of the outfits from my shoot).
This outfit that I’m highlighting today is the perfect autumn attire! The colors just scream fall and the layering is essential for this fickle Charleston weather. All of the fabrics used in the clothing at Seeking Indigo are exceptionally soft and of high quality, but this jacket is probably the softest you’ll ever feel!! I also love how versatile it is because you can roll the sleeves up or down and cinch the waist or leave it baggy. I prefer to cinch it a bit to give it some shape, but leaving it loose can be great when you’ve got bulky sweaters underneath. The rust colored basic tee really pops under the tan jacket and I love the color contrast! This could easily be kept super casual by throwing on a pair of Converse or flats, but I wanted to jazz things up a bit so I wore these great lace up heels! (now 40% off in link below) Then, I added the two statement tassel necklaces (with healing properties-yay!) and that gorgeous metallic clutch! By adding those fun accessories to a typically casual outfit this makes a great fall date night get up!
