CHSFW 2015: Day 1 Outfit

APD_3009

Okay guys, so it’s looking like I’m not going to get my full runway review in until tomorrow, but I’m dying to share last night’s look with y’all!! I wore this adorable pleated BCBG dress courtesy of one of my absolute favs, Trés Carmen Boutique, who also sent this look down the runway last night. The weather in Charleston was beautiful last night, actually it was almost to the point of hot and muggy, so this style was perfect for the temps. I stayed cool and comfortable all night, plus pinch proof because after all, it was St. Patrick’s Day!

Since this dress had a good bit of color going on, I kept my bag and shoes to a neutral shade with my go-to GiGi (also from Trés Carmen) and my favorite new Dolce Vita heels from StyleXchange. The color of both the shoes and bag is so beautiful and so perfect to go with all of your bright spring colors!

Thanks to the ridiculously cool girls at Theodosia, I was set up with some awesome jewelry for the week!! I love how the color from the long stranded necklace pulls out that sea foamy color in the dress. I layered that up with their dainty, but beautiful, rose cut diamond necklace. It’s amazing what a difference a little dainty layering can do for an outfit!! Then, I kept the earrings simple with these STUNNING opal studs!! Currently begging the hubby to let me keep these babays!! Pair that with my daintily layered Moon and Lola midi rings and my accessories were complete! I loved that this gave off a bit of a boho vibe so that I was able to wear my new rounded frame Ray Bans. They’re kinda my fav ever!

Sassy Pants

DSC_0149DSC_0136DSC_0131DSC_0123DSC_0099DSC_0140Sassy has officially become my favorite word ever! I use it to describe everything from my husband (most used) to in this case, an article of clothing. These pants are the DEFINITION of sassy!! They make me feel confident and fashionable, which of course equate sassiness! They’re a ton of fun to wear and trust me, you’ll get lots of compliments on these babies. They’re another piece of fashion genius from the designer behind my fab top on Tuesday, Hilton Hollis. There is actually a matching vest that completes this look as a KILLER matching set, but I chose to style it a bit differently for y’all. The high waist on these pants are perfect for elongating your legs and just begs for a crop top to go with. This black boxy crop was the perfect compliment. I always like to keep things opposite- if my pants are tight, loose shirt and vice versa. As I’ve told y’all, I’m really into the minimalist look lately (so much chicer, right?) so I wore no jewelry and instead wanted to show off this FABULOUS bag from local designer of Garb Designs. Creator & designer, Montgomery Taylor, designs all of her bags from fabrics created from geological microscopic images- HOW cool is that?! I won’t spill too many of the beans on her though, because there’s an interview coming up soon! But, basically she’s a super cool chick with an amazing handbag collection! Keeping in tune with my simplicity phase (or is it a phase) I threw on my new fav heels from Bob Ellis Shoes. They’re SO simple, but SO fab at the same time!! This is such a fun, sassy look- just throw on a hot pink lip and you’re ready to hit the town running!! Well, maybe I won’t be running in these shoes!!

Don’t forget that Hilton Hollis himself will be at Maddison Row this evening from 4:30-7:00 and you can shop his designs there all weekend!! I hope to see all of you there!!

Bloggers Take Belk

Belk of Towne Centre has given us bloggers some pretty fabulous opportunities lately and the latest of those was the chance to attend a CYNTHIA by Cynthia Rowley fashion show and chat with the designer herself! You can read more about my experience with the sweet and stylish lady here, but of course I’ve got to tell you all about what I wore! Now, you’ve seen a summer variation of how to wear this skirt before, but it so easily can transition to winter as well. Instead of wearing the hot pink crop top I did in the warmer months, I chose to pull out the black in the skirt with this structured black crop top. Then, I traded in my strappy sandals for these KILLER thigh high boots! These have quickly become my favorite shoe for fall and winter! They lengthen and slim your legs automatically (which if you know me, you know I love). You can throw these on with a simple pair of skinny jeans and black tee shirt and voila! go from frumpy to fabulous!! They truly are the ideal winter accessory to expand your wardrobe. I wanted to add a big chunky necklace, but not one with too much color, so this collar necklace was perfect! To add a little pop of color in with the black, I carried this bright purple clutch, which coincidentally matched perfectly with my blogger babe partner in crime, Tara, of Northern Lights- Southern Belles. Don’t we just look like a Belk commercial?! We’re hoping for billboard hehe

Something that I can never have enough of in my closet are easy little shift dresses that I can just throw on and go. They’re just so easy to wear, but still look really put together (read: instead of yoga pants and a tee shirt). So, when I saw this floral beauty, it was love at first sight! The colors are perfect for fall, without being dull. Red is actually going to be a huge color this fall, along with any other bright, rich colors. Gone are the days of sticking to grey and brown! The great thing about this dress is that it also transitions nicely. Wear it now with nothing extra, a few weeks from now with a denim jacket and when it really gets chilly add black tights, leather jacket and booties. Another trend I’m loving for fall is a big floppy hat, this girl loves any excuse for a hat!! While the reds don’t really match from the dress to the hat, I think they compliment each other really nicely. A true red would’ve been wayyy too much going on for the hat. I accessorized with a fun arm full of different bangles. For shoes I wore a pair of neutral suede booties, but this could also be worn with black. I just really like the contrast of the camel color. This is a great casual fall afternoon outfit that can easily take you into night just adding a denim or leather jacket.

This laid back look truly embodies everything that is my everyday wear. I live for {and in} comfy skinnies, a cute top & a pair of booties. It is what I feel my best and most comfortable in. The effortless look is really where it’s at and with a few little details can be so chic! I have had this top for a while, but just hadn’t made it a number one priority on my long list of outfits to wear. However, after seeing how huge the metallic trend was on the Oscar’s Red Carpet Sunday night I knew I HAD to wear it right away! A-listers like Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett and Kate Hudson (one of my personal best dressed’s of the night) were all wearing some hue of a shiny, glamorous metallic. But, who says the trend has to be saved for black tie events like the Academy Awards? This top is casual metallic heaven!! It feels like you’re wearing a t-shirt with the grey cotton that has a hint of glitter to it, but it is the faux leather rose gold sleeves that really MAKE the top. I also love the black collar lining. It is something so simple, but it just wouldn’t be as good without it. I wore it with my favorite “legging pants” as I like to call them. A simple cuff at the bottom instantly makes these stylish! LADIES- DO NOT TUCK YOUR PANTS INTO BOOTIES IF THE LEGS ARE GOING TO BE BUNCHY!!!! This is {clearly} a huge pet peeve of mine, and it just does not look good. Give your skinnies & booties the polished look by either cuffing them once or doing a tiny roll a couple of times. These happen to be my favorite booties of all time and they really look fabulous with anything and everything. It doesn’t hurt that they give you the comfort of a flat, but the confidence of a heel. Since I was going for the less is more appearance, I kept my accessories to a major minimum. The bracelet I am wearing is actually a necklace, but works great as both and has all sorts of wonderful metallic colors in there that really compliment my outfit. Finally, one of the most important factors with such a low key outfit is that {unless you’re just running to Target} you’ve got to have your hair/makeup looking fabulous! You can still give your hair that tousled bed head look, but make sure it isn’t REALLY bed head. I love a bold smoky eye with this because it really plays up such a simple outfit. This is a hot look that can be worn in the daytime or perfect for dinner or a night out! No matter where it is worn, you will look so chic and like you didn’t even try!
