Back in Black

DSC_0041DSC_0071DSC_0049DSC_0063DSC_0085DSC_0073DSC_0093Obviously, my first outfit only post back after the New Year had to have a ridiculously cheesy title! On a real note though, creating a title for each post has got to be one of the biggest challenges. As I approach SMC’s 1 year birthday/blogiversary {but really, which is it?} I seriously worry I’ll start to run out of title ideas!! But, as goobery as the title might be, it’s very true to my current style situation. I’ve never really been a black kinda girl until the last few months and suddenly it’s all I ever want to buy! The key to keep yourself from wearing the same black Piko top over and over (you know who you are) is to find a few black pieces that are fashion forward, but still keep that chic, simple look. This top from Hilton Hollis, an up and coming designer out of New York City, does just that! It’s fun and sassy but still remains true to the comfort of wearing a simple black blouse. << PS- you can shop the Hilton Hollis line this weekend at Maddison Row in Charleston!! Join me as they kick off the trunk show Thursday evening with a cocktail party benefiting an awesome charity, One80 Place.-see below for more info >> I styled the top simply with dark denim and my equally sassy thigh high boots that always take any outfit to the next level. Of course, I couldn’t do without a pop of color! This beautiful turquoise tassel necklace from Peyton William was the perfect addition! I’m absolutely obsessed with the tassel trend and this necklace is certainly no exception. Side note: they also have some pretty adorable tiny tassel earrings that mayyy need to make their way to my jewelry box. Basically, if you haven’t stopped inside this local jewelry store on lower King, you’ve got to move that to the top of your list. And, if you aren’t local and haven’t visited Charleston, you need to start packing! I also love the pop of leopard with this bag that has become clutch in my wardrobe (okay, that was too much cheesiness for one post). But, there’s just something about the leopard and the turquoise that makes me really happy. I really just love this whole look!! It’s perfect for a winter night out (because you know you’re running out of those outfits) or even paired with black flats for a daytime look. ** also, sorry if ACDC is stuck in your head now, like it is mine.. #miserylovescompany

  1. Hey there! My blogging partner and I are planning a road trip to Charleston this summer so I’ve been looking for some South Carolina blogs to follow, and I love yours! Your style is very Southern classic with a twist, much like ours on our blog Music City Mavens. Do you have any “must do/see” suggestions in your city?
